Where did the idea for photography even come from?

Photography has always been somewhere in the back of my mind. I remember every time a new phone model came out with a better camera, I’d immediately want to upgrade to the latest one. But buying a proper camera? That was something I never really considered seriously. And so the years passed, with photography just lingering in the background.

After changing jobs and moving to Plymouth, I suddenly found myself with a few extra days off each week. Out of pure curiosity, I began exploring how the manual mode on a camera actually works. I read a few books and learned the theory, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I made a decision: I’m buying a camera! I opted for a second-hand Canon D250 DSLR.

The first photos? They turned out pretty decent, but… something was missing. It wasn’t quite what I had envisioned.

And that’s when it all began… 🤭 Online courses at The School of Photography, delving into the intricacies of Photoshop and Lightroom, a maternity photography course with Monika Serek, lifestyle photography workshops… That was just the beginning! Each of these steps opened new doors, new possibilities, and deepened my conviction that photography is much more than just clicking the shutter. It’s the art of capturing emotions, freezing fleeting moments that will never come again.

Photography isn’t just about technique; it’s about the emotions we want to preserve. It’s a story about people, places, and moments that make life truly special. A photo can capture what isn’t immediately visible – the emotions, the atmosphere, the connections between people. That’s why I continue to immerse myself not only in photography but also in psychology. After all, to take a good photo, you need to understand not just the camera but also the person you’re photographing.

So, if you’d like me to help you preserve those special moments in your life, I invite you to a photo session. Together, we can create something truly unforgettable!

But before we get to that, let me introduce you to the very humble beginnings of my photography journey. Behold – my first-ever photos! Yes, these gems may look like I had no idea what I was doing (and, honestly, I didn’t 🤷‍♀️), but hey, everyone starts somewhere, right? Consider these a little glimpse into how far we’ve come since those early ‘creative experiments’! 😂
